Indian Flats Cabin

How to get there and seasonal access: Take Hwy 280 east from Helena to York, Montana. Turn left at the York Bar and proceed 5 miles to the small community of Nelson, where you will turn right. Stay on the main road up Beaver Creek, through a series of switchbacks up Burnt Gulch to the junction of Hogback Lookout and Indian Flats Roads. Take the left hand fork for about .5 miles and the cabin is on the right, nestled among the trees. Access to the Indian Flats Cabins is dependent on the time of year and weather conditions. Usually during the summer and fall months, passenger cars can drive to the cabin. Access in winter, depending on snowfall, may be limited to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling the last 7 miles. Access may be restricted during spring breakup.

A short walk from the Lookout and you can gaze down into Beaver Creek Canyon or take in the spectacular scenery available in the 360-degree panorama. You’ll find opportunity for hiking, mountain biking, and wildflower and wildlife viewing near the Flats. Nearby Trout Creek Canyon accesses the Hanging Valley and vista.
