Cummings Cabin

How to get there and seasonal access: Via Hogum Creek Road which is approximately 6 miles east of Lincoln on Hwy 200. Follow the Hogum Creek Road to the Black Diamond Road. The Black Diamond Road will take you to the cabin driveway. From the beginning of the driveway to the cabin is just over 1/10 of a mile. A private cabin is located on the corner just at the left hand turn into the driveway. Please respect the private lands that borders the west side of the cabin site. In winter, the road is usually plowed to within 1/10 of a mile to the cabin. You will need to access the cabin by cross-country skis, snowshoes or snowmobile in winter.

Equipment: There are four beds with mattresses in the cabin—one double and two singles, a table and four chairs, cabinets, drawers, and a wood stove. Silverware, dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, firewood, axe, shovel, and cleaning gear are also available. There is no guarantee these items will be on hand. Be prepared. Electricity: None.

Bathroom facilities: Outhouse.

Drinking water: Bring drinking water or treat or boil water from local sources.

Capacity/Fee: 6 persons/$25

Available: Most of the year. Exception: Not available during big game hunting season.

What to do in the area: The cabin’s close proximity to Lincoln will allow visitors to experience the rich history of the area. A number of hiking trails are easily accessible, including the continental Divide National Scenic Trail. You can explore the Blackfoot River, and the historic mining district of Stemple Pass as well as thousands of acres of spectacular National Forest lands.
